About Me
I graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 2009 with a degree in psychology and medical anthropology. After working in the education field for a time, I decided to pursue a writing degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts, where I could work with literary powerhouses to hone my writing skills. I graduated in 2016 with an MFA in nonfiction writing. After graduation, I pursued a master's certificate in professional and technical editing from Northern Arizona University. Here I honed my skills in grammar, structure, rhetoric, and style as well as readability, e.g., translating technically complex material for the general public. I also became proficient in WordPress and content management for online publishing.
From 2017 to 2020, I worked as an essay editor for the online literary magazine The Offing. In 2020, I began working for a senior health care company, writing, editing, and publishing articles based on senior health care topics like dementia, acute and preventive care, behavioral health, and much more. This position enabled me to utilize the advanced clinical research skills that I honed during my undergraduate degree. I am as confident writing about the importance of a clinical study as I am reviewing the latest fantasy novel.
I consider myself as much left-brain as I am right-brain. I feel this gives me an edge in the content writing field, as I can confidently weave SEO seamlessly with engaging, well-researched writing.
